Join the effort to build a better future for our children
Partners Post, May 2013
All choices have consequences. The decision to cut state public education funding by nearly $1 billion in 2011 created a school funding crisis that will get worse every year until these unprecedented cuts are restored.
Funding cuts continue to force school districts to make increasingly difficult decisions about how to meet the education needs of their students, from reading and math to music and the arts. The result? Districts are increasing class sizes, cutting programs, and reducing learning opportunities for thousands of Pennsylvania students.
Our schools have been told to “do more with less.” But as parents and educators know, the painful reality has become “doing less with far less.” We see, feel, and recognize the harsh consequences, the destructive cuts, and shameful losses.
